About
The Dungog Film Society, with currently over 60 members brings quality films to be seen on the big screen in Dungog. We are passionate about films and the iconic cinema in Dungog, the James Theatre. This year, 2012 is our 21st year! And seems to be another year with good prospects. As many of you are aware the situation with the reopening of the cinema is still in some flux BUT the James Cinema will be back up and running by May 2012. This is when the new projector should be installed and we can return to normal. But this year is the 100th Anniversary of the opening of the James Theatre way back in December 1912 so there will be special events this year to celebrate. Part of that celebration will be AGOG , a Feast of Foriegn Films which will be on in September 2012 (its fourth year!). More details of AGOG later.
In 2012 we will start with films at the Wallarobba Hall, starting with some Bhutanese films on Sunday Feb 19. These sessions will have a supper before the films so bookings for the supper part is essential, but the films will start about 8pm, so you can turn up then if you wish. When we are back in the James in May we will resune our regular suppers and after coffee at Cafe Dungog.
We do rely on our members for support. We always welcome new members and at only $60 for a year’s membership it’s great value, less than $6 per film!
For the Film Society to continue you need to promote new members or door sales to new and old people in the district, work mates and friends. We always need new members, especially this year as some older members have left and costs have risen. So why not join us and get your friends involved too?
